Rifadin (rifampin)
type of Antitubercular Agents
Rifadin (rifampin, isoniazid and pyrazinamide) is an antibiotic used to treat or prevent tuberculosis (TB).
Rifadin may also be used to eliminate a type of bacteria from your nose and throat that may cause meningitis or other infections, even if you do not have an infection.
The drug is often used to treat Meningitis .
This drug may have the following side effects:
- hives,
- difficulty breathing,
- nausea,
- upper stomach pain,
- loss of appetite,
- dark urine,
- clay-colored stools, and
- yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice)
- rash,
- vomiting,
- fever,
- swollen glands,
- lightheadedness,
- shortness of breath,
- chills,
- body aches,
- tiredness,
- chest pain,
- fluttering in your chest,
- joint pain,
- muscle aches,
- headache,
- wheezing,
- cough,
- sore throat,
- skin pain,
- severe stomach pain,
- pounding heartbeats,
- unusual bleeding (nosebleeds, bleeding gums),
- burning in your eyes,
- diarrhea that is watery or bloody,
- severe weakness,
- unusual bruising,
- red or purple skin rash that spreads and causes blistering and peeling,
- swelling in your face or throat,
- stiffness
