Cefuroxime (cefuroxime injection)

Cefuroxime and dextrose injection (Brand name: Ceftin) is an antibacterial used to treat lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin infections, septicemia, meningitis, gonorrhea and bone and joint infections. Cefuroxime and dextrose injection is available in generic form.
The drug is often used to treat Meningitis .
This drug may have the following side effects:
- nausea,
- headache,
- vomiting,
- diarrhea,
- cough,
- anemia,
- fever,
- restlessness,
- upset stomach,
- drowsiness,
- hives,
- muscle pain,
- stomach or abdominal pain,
- itching or skin rash,
- stuffy nose,
- gas,
- vaginal itching or discharge, or
- stomach cramps,
- injection site reactions (inflammation, blood clot),
- watery or bloody stools,
- stiff or tight muscles,
- joint pain or swelling,
- irritability,
- hyperactivity,
- white patches or sores inside your mouth or on your lips,
- unusual or unpleasant taste in your mouth,
- diaper rash in an infant taking liquid cefuroxime,
- vaginal yeast infection.
