Gantrisin (acetyl sulfisoxazole pediatric suspension) is a sulfonamide ("sulfa") antibiotic used to treat or prevent many different types of infections caused by bacteria, such as bladder infections, ear infections, or meningitis. The brand name Gantrisin is discontinued, but generic versions may be available.
The drug is often used to treat Meningitis .
This drug may have the following side effects:
- headache
- dizziness
- gas
- bloating
- stomach pain
- ringing in your ears, or
- swollen, black, or "hairy" tongue
