Visudyne (verteporfin) for Injection is a light activated drug used in photodynamic therapy for the treatment of blood vessel disorders in the eye, macular degeneration, and other eye diseases.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• hives,
• difficulty breathing,
• swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
• lightheadedness,
• dizziness,
• sweating,
• chest pain, and
• eye pain,
• seeing halos around lights,
• flushing (warmth, redness, or tingly feeling)
• severe decrease in vision,
• sudden and severe pain,
• severe redness or other discoloration of your eyes,

The following drugs are related to Visudyne, either as a replacement or used together:

• Eylea (aflibercept)
• Byooviz (ranibizumab-nuna injection, for intravitreal use)
• Lucentis (ranibizumab injection)
• Macugen (pegaptanib sodium)
• Syfovre (pegcetacoplan injection, for intravitreal use)
