Theophylline 200, 400 and 800 mg in 5% Dextrose Injection is a methylxanthine used as an adjunct to inhaled beta-2 selective agonists and systemically administered corticosteroids for the treatment of acute exacerbations of the symptoms and reversible airflow obstruction associated with asthma and other chronic lung diseases, e.g., emphysema and chronic bronchitis. The brand name Theophylline 200, 400 and 800 mg in 5% Dextrose Injection is discontinued, but generic versions may be available.

This drug may have the following side effects:
- headache
- nausea
- diarrhea
- vomiting
- restlessness
- irritability
- increased urination
- insomnia
- muscle tremors
- low blood potassium (hypokalemia), and
- high blood sugar (hyperglycemia)
