Syprine (trientine)

Syprine (trientine) is a chelating agent that works by removing heavy metals from the blood used to treat Wilson's disease in people who cannot take penicillamine (Cuprimine, Depen).

This drug may have the following side effects:

• hives,
• difficulty breathing,
• swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
• fever,
• skin rash,
• shortness of breath,
• confusion,
• joint pain or swelling,
• chest pain,
• numbness,
• headache,
• weakness,
• skin sores,
• drooping eyelids,
• double vision,
• problems with speech,
• poor balance,
• cold feeling, and
• pale appearance of your fingers or toes
• muscle pain or stiffness,
• difficulty walking, lifting, chewing, or swallowing,
