Stelazine (trifluoperazine hydrochloride) is an anti-psychotic medication in a group of drugs called phenothiazines used to treat anxiety or psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia. The brand name Stelazine is discontinued. This medication is available in generic form only.

The drug is often used to treat Schizophrenia .

This drug may have the following side effects:

  • blurred vision,
  • constipation,
  • dry mouth,
  • trouble sleeping (insomnia),
  • tiredness,
  • drowsiness,
  • weight gain,
  • missed menstrual periods, 
  • anxiety,
  • stuffy nose,

  • swelling in your hands or feet,
  • trouble having an orgasm.
