Sotradecol (sodium tetradecyl)

Sotradecol (sodium tetradecyl sulfate) Injection is a sclerosing agent used to treat small, uncomplicated varicose veins in the legs. Sotradecol is not a cure for varicose veins and the effects of this medication may not be permanent.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• nausea
• vomiting
• mild headache
• discolored skin along the treated vein (may be permanent)
• injection site reactions (pain, hives, ulveration), or
• allergic reactions (hives, hay fever, asthma, and severe anaphylaxis)

The following drugs are related to Sotradecol, either as a replacement or used together:

• Asclera (polidocanol injection)
• Varithena (polidocanol injectable foam)
