Visicol (sodium phosphate monobasic monohydrate, sodium phosphate dibasic anhydrous)

Visicol (sodium phosphate monobasic monohydrate, sodium phosphate dibasic anhydrous) contains forms of phosphorus and is used to treat constipation and to clean the bowel before surgery, x-rays, endoscopy, or other intestinal procedures. Sodium biphosphate and sodium phosphate enemas are also used for general care after surgery and to help relieve impacted bowels.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • nausea
  • dizziness
  • vomiting
  • bloating
  • headache, and
  • stomach or abdominal pain
  • tightness in your throat
The following drugs are related to Visicol, either as a replacement or used together:
  • MoviPrep (peg-3350, sodium sulfate, sodium chloride, potassium chloride, sodium ascorbate, ascorbic acid)
