Xyrem (sodium oxybate)

type of CNS Depressants

Xyrem (sodium oxybate) is a central nervous system depressant drug indicated for the treatment of excessive daytime sleepiness and cataplexy in patients with narcolepsy.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• nausea,
• dizziness,
• vomiting,
• diarrhea, or
• shallow breathing.

The following drugs are related to Xyrem, either as a replacement or used together:

• Xywav (calcium, magnesium, potassium, and sodium oxybates oral solution)
• ProCentra (dextroamphetamine sulfate oral solution)
• Lumryz (sodium oxybate for extended-release oral suspension)
• Methylin Chewable Tablets (methylphenidate hcl chewable tablets)
• Methylin Oral Solution (methylphenidate hcl oral solution 5 mg/5 ml and 10 mg/5 ml)
• Ritalin (methylphenidate hcl)
• Provigil (modafinil)
