Zelapar (selegiline hydrochloride)

Zelapar (selegiline hydrochloride) is an enzyme blocker (MAO inhibitor) that works by slowing the breakdown of certain natural substances in the brain (neurotransmitters such as dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin) used together with other medicines to treat symptoms of Parkinson's disease.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing,
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
  • nausea,
  • vomiting,
  • diarrhea,
  • fever,
  • lightheadedness,
  • shortness of breath,
  • confusion,
  • severe headache,
  • blurred vision,
  • pounding in your neck or ears,
  • fainting,
  • agitation,
  • overactive reflexes,
  • anxiety,
  • hallucinations,
  • unusual thoughts or behavior,
  • fast heart rate,
  • loss of coordination,
  • seizures
  • severe chest pain,
  • pounding heartbeats, and
  • uncontrolled muscle movements,
  • increased tremors,
  • worsening side effects of your other medications,
