Seconal Sodium (secobarbital sodium) is a barbiturate used to short-term to treat insomnia, or as a sedative before surgery.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• loss of appetite,
• nausea,
• headache,
• dizziness,
• vomiting,
• upset stomach,
• tiredness,
• drowsiness,
• unwanted sleepiness,
• trouble waking up,
• excitement (especially in children or older adults),
• problems with memory or concentration,
• constipation, or
• excitation,
• "hangover" effect (drowsiness the day after a dose).
