Rotarix (rotavirus vaccine, live, oral suspension)

Rotarix (rotavirus) Vaccine, Live Oral Suspension is a "live" vaccine used to help prevent rotavirus disease in children. The risk of serious side effects of Rotarix vaccine is extremely low. Becoming infected with rotavirus is much more dangerous to your child's health than receiving of Rotarix vaccine.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• fever,
• shortness of breath,
• chills,
• seizure,
• wheezing,
• high fever,
• cough with yellow or green mucus,
• stabbing chest pain,
• severe or ongoing diarrhea,
• ear pain, swelling or drainage,
• pain or burning with urination,
• redness of the skin or eyes,
• swollen hands,
• peeling skin rash, and
• chapped or cracked lips

The following drugs are related to Rotarix, either as a replacement or used together:

• Cefzil (cefprozil)
