Rimactane (rifamycin capsules)
type of Antitubercular Agents
Rimactane (rifampin) is an antibiotic indicated for the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis and for the treatment of asymptomatic carriers of N. meningitidis to eliminate meningococci from the nasopharynx. Rimactane is available in generic form.
This drug may have the following side effects:
- hives,
- difficulty breathing,
- swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
- dark urine,
- rash,
- vomiting,
- fever,
- easy bruising,
- unusual bleeding,
- confusion,
- stomach pain,
- yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice),
- joint pain or swelling,
- unusual tiredness,
- itching, and
- severe dizziness
- mental or mood changes,
- blood or mucus in your stool,
- white patches in your mouth,
- persistent nausea,
- change in vaginal discharge,
- unusual behavior,
- stomach cramps,
- changes in the amount of urine,
- small red spots on the skin,
- diarrhea that will not stop (can occur after treatment has stopped),
- new or worsening lymph node swelling,
