Renese (polythiazide)

Renese (polythiazide) is a diuretic used as adjunctive therapy in edema associated with congestive heart failure, hepatic cirrhosis, corticosteroid and estrogen therapy, and edema due to various forms of renal dysfunction, as well as management of hypertension used either alone or with other antihypertensive drugs. The brand name Renese is discontinued, but generic versions may be available.
The drug is often used to treat Cirrhosis .
This drug may have the following side effects:
- headache
- nausea
- diarrhea
- vomiting
- weakness, or
- dizziness
- constipation
- rash
- weight loss
- restlessness
- hives
- sensitivity to light
- Numbness and tingling
- vertigo
- high blood sugar
- dizziness upon standing
- low blood potassium or sodium levels
- imbalance of blood potassium or sodium levels
- cramping
- yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice)
- muscle spasm
