Polytrim (polymyxin b sulfate and trimethoprim ophthalmic solution, usp, sterile)

Polytrim (polymyxin B sulfate and trimethoprim ophthalmic solution) is an antibiotic indicated in the treatment of surface bacterial infections of the eye, including acute bacterial conjunctivitis, and blepharoconjunctivitis, caused by susceptible strains of the following microorganisms: Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus viridans, Haemophilus influenzae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Polytrim is available in generic form.
The drug is often used to treat Conjunctivitis .
This drug may have the following side effects:
- eye irritation (redness, burning, stinging, or itching), and
- hypersensitivity reactions (eyelid swelling, itching, increased redness, tearing, or rash)
