Salagen (pilocarpine hydrochloride) is a cholinergic agonist that increases saliva secretion in the mouth used in the treatment of dry mouth. Salagen is available in generic form.

The drug is often used to treat Dry mouth .

This drug may have the following side effects:

• nausea,
• headache,
• dizziness,
• diarrhea,
• weakness,
• runny nose,
• increased sweating,
• changes in vision,
• chills, or
• redness of the face and neck (flushing),
• increased or frequent urge to urinate.
