Pheburane (sodium phenylbutyrate oral pellets)

Pheburane (sodium phenylbutyrate) is a nitrogen-binding agent indicated as adjunctive therapy to standard of care, which includes dietary management, for the chronic management of adult and pediatric patients with urea cycle disorders (UCDs), involving deficiencies of carbamylphosphate synthetase (CPS), ornithine transcarbamylase (OTC) or argininosuccinic acid synthetase (AS).

This drug may have the following side effects:

• lightheadedness,
• dizziness,
• vomiting,
• fainting,
• shortness of breath, and
• pale skin,
• swelling,
• hives, 
• difficulty breathing, 
• swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, 
• confusion, 
• seizures, 
• rapid weight gain, 
• mood or behavior changes,
• slurred speech, 
• memory loss, 
• rapid heart rate
• thinking problems,
• severe drowsiness, 
• muscle twitching, 
• back and forth movement of the eyes, 
• increasing weakness,
