Protonix (pantoprazole)

Protonix Delayed-Release Oral Suspension and Delayed-Release Tablets (pantoprazole sodium) is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used for short-term treatment (less than 10 days) of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and a history of erosive esophagitis in adult patients.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• dizziness,
• swelling,
• cough,
• blood in the urine,
• little or no urination,
• severe stomach pain,
• rapid weight gain,
• feeling jittery,
• joint pain, and
• choking feeling,
• muscle cramps or spasms in your hands or feet,
• diarrhea that is watery or has blood in it,
• sudden pain or difficulty moving your hip, wrist or back,
• bruising or swelling at the injection site,
• fast or irregular heartrate,
• tremors (shaking) or jerky movements,
• skin rash on your cheeks or arms which worsens at night
