Sohonos (palovarotene)

Sohonos (palovarotene) is a retinoid indicated for reduction in the volume of new heterotopic ossification in adults and children aged 8 years and older for females and 10 years and older for males with fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP).

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • skin redness,
  • nausea,
  • itching,
  • rash,
  • joint pain,
  • back pain,
  • headache,
  • hair loss,
  • pain in extremities,
  • dry skin,
  • hypersensitivity,
  • dry eye,
  • dry lips,
  • skin exfoliation,
  • muscle and musculoskeletal pain,
  • swelling of extremities, and
  • fatigue.
