Oralone (triamcinolone acetonide dental paste)

Oralone (triamcinolone acetonide dental paste, 0.1%) contains a corticosteroid and is indicated for adjunctive treatment and for the temporary relief of symptoms associated with oral inflammatory lesions and ulcerative lesions resulting from trauma.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • itching,
  • burning,
  • irritation,
  • dryness,
  • allergic contact dermatitis,
  • secondary infection, and
  • blistering or peeling not present prior to therapy,
  • swelling and rash on the skin around the mouth,
  • ulcers inside the mouth,
  • atrophy of the lining of the inside of the mouth
The following drugs are related to Oralone, either as a replacement or used together:
  • Periochip (chlorhexidine chip for insertion into periodontal pockets)
  • Periogard (chlorhexidine gluconate oral rinse)
  • Cortaren (dexamethasone sodium phosphate injection)
