Optison (perflutren protein-type A microspheres) Injectable Suspension consists of microspheres of human serum albumin with perflutren for contrast enhancement used during certain ultrasound imaging procedures.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing,
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
  • skin redness,
  • itching,
  • lightheadedness,
  • confusion,
  • chest pain,
  • severe headache,
  • blurred vision,
  • pounding in your neck or ears,
  • wheezing,
  • fainting,
  • slow heart rate,
  • anxiety,
  • trouble breathing,
  • cold sweat,
  • fast or slow heartbeats,
  • weak pulse,
  • severe dizziness,
  • tight feeling in your chest or throat,
  • warmth, redness, numbness, or tingly feeling in the skin,
  • weak, and
  • shallow breathing
The following drugs are related to Optison, either as a replacement or used together:
  • Betapace AF (sotalol hcl)
  • Cozaar (losartan potassium)
  • Hyzaar (losartan potassium-hydrochlorothiazide)
  • Rythmol (propafenone)
  • Rythmol SR (propafenose hydrochloride extended release capsules)
