Olpruva (sodium phenylbutyrate oral suspension)

Olpruva (sodium phenylbutyrate) is a nitrogen-binding agent indicated as adjunctive therapy to standard of care, which includes dietary management, for the chronic management of adult and pediatric patients weighing 20 kg or greater and with a body surface area (BSA) of 1.2 m2 or greater, with urea cycle disorders (UCDs) involving deficiencies of carbamylphosphate synthetase (CPS), ornithine transcarbamylase (OTC), or argininosuccinic acid synthetase (AS).

This drug may have the following side effects:

• hives,
• difficulty breathing,
• swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
• vomiting,
• pale skin,
• lightheadedness,
• confusion,
• severe drowsiness,
• swelling,
• fainting,
• shortness of breath, and
• seizures,
• rapid weight gain,
• slurred speech,
• mood or behavior changes,
• thinking problems,
• muscle twitching,
• rapid heart rate
• memory loss,
• back and forth movement of the eyes,
• increasing weakness,
