Sandostatin LAR (octreotide acetate injection)

Sandostatin LAR Depot (octreotide acetate) is an octapeptide used to treat acromegaly. Sandostatin LAR Depot is also used to reduce flushing episodes and watery diarrhea caused by cancerous tumors (carcinoid syndrome) or tumors called vasoactive intestinal peptide tumors (VIP adenomas).

This drug may have the following side effects:

• nausea,
• dizziness,
• vomiting,
• diarrhea,
• constipation,
• headache, or
• stomach pain or upset,
• gas,
• bloating,
• loose/oily stools,
• pain and irritation at the injection site.

• Bynfezia Pen (octreotide acetate injection, for subcutaneous use)
• Lomotil (diphenoxylate and atropine)
• Imodium (loperamide hcl)

• Signifor-LAR (pasireotide for injectable suspension, for intramuscular use)
