Ocaliva (obeticholic acid tablets)

Ocaliva (obeticholic acid) is a farnesoid X receptor (FXR) agonist indicated for the treatment of primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) in combination with ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) in adults with an inadequate response to UDCA, or as monotherapy in adults unable to tolerate UDCA.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• fever
• itching
• fatigue
• constipation
• rash
• joint pain
• swelling of the extremities
• palpitations, and
• abdominal pain and discomfor
• mouth and throat pain, dizziness
• thyroid function abnormality
• eczema
