Norvir (ritonavir capsules, oral solution)

Norvir (ritonavir) is an antiviral medication in a group of HIV medicines called protease inhibitors used to treat HIV, which causes acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Norvir is not a cure for HIV or AIDS.

The drug is often used to treat HIV .

This drug may have the following side effects:

• hives,
• difficulty breathing,
• swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
• nausea,
• loss of appetite,
• vomiting,
• fever,
• easy bruising,
• lightheadedness,
• dry mouth,
• sweating,
• sore throat,
• burning eyes,
• skin pain,
• red or purple skin rash with blistering and peeling,
• increased thirst,
• increased urination,
• fruity breath odor,
• mouth sores,
• irregular heartbeats,
• dark urine, and
• fast or pounding heartbeats,
• hunger,
• unusual bleeding (nose, mouth, vagina, or rectum),
• purple or red pinpoint spots under your skin,
• upper stomach pain (that may spread to your back),
• yellowing of the skin or eye (jaundice)
