Ortho Tri-Cyclen / Ortho-Cyclen (norgestimate and ethinyl estradiol)

Ortho Tri-Cyclen (ethinyl estradiol, norgestimate) is an oral contraceptive that contains estrogen and progestin. Generic versions of Ortho-Tri-Cyclen are available.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• nausea,
• upper stomach pain,
• loss of appetite,
• dark urine,
• fever,
• shortness of breath,
• tiredness,
• clay-colored stools,
• yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice),
• vision problems,
• pain spreading to your jaw or shoulder,
• pounding in your neck or ears,
• weakness, and
• sweating,
• chest pain or pressure,
• sudden numbness or weakness (especially on one side of the body),
• slurred speech,
• coughing up blood,
• sudden vision loss,
• problems with your balance,
• mood changes
• sudden severe headache,
• stabbing chest pain,
• pain or warmth in one or both legs,
• swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet,
• sleep problems,
• breast lump,
• changes in the pattern or severity of migraine headaches,
