Nitropress (nitroprusside sodium)

Nitropress (sodium nitroprusside) Injection, Solution, Concentrate is a vasodilator used to treat congestive heart failure and life-threatening high blood pressure (hypertension). Nitropress is also used to keep blood pressure low during a surgery.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• hives,
• difficulty breathing,
• swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
• lightheadedness,
• confusion,
• chills,
• rapid breathing,
• sweating,
• twitching, and
• shallow breathing,
• seizures,
• ringing in your ears,
• tremors,
• overactive reflexes
• numb or cold feeling in your arms and legs,
• gasping,
• struggling to breathe,
• dizziness with nausea and vomiting,
• fast, slow, or uneven heart rate,
