Viracept (nelfinavir mesylate)

Viracept (nelfinavir mesylate) is a type of antiviral medication called a protease inhibitor used to treat HIV, which causes acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Viracept is not a cure for HIV or AIDS.

The drug is often used to treat HIV .

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing,
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
  • diarrhea,
  • fever,
  • swollen glands,
  • night sweats,
  • easy bruising,
  • shortness of breath,
  • weight loss,
  • stomach pain,
  • chest pain,
  • blurred vision,
  • dry mouth,
  • rapid heart rate,
  • wheezing,
  • weakness,
  • increased thirst,
  • increased urination,
  • fruity breath odor,
  • mouth sores,
  • drowsiness,
  • anxiety,
  • irritableness,
  • hunger,
  • unusual bleeding (nose, mouth, vagina, or rectum),
  • dry skin,
  • dry cough,
  • cold sores,
  • trouble speaking or swallowing,
  • problems with balance or eye movement,
  • swelling in your neck or throat (enlarged thyroid),
  • prickly feeling,
  • sores on your genital or anal area,
  • severe lower back pain,
  • loss of bladder or bowel control,
  • menstrual changes,
  • impotence, and
  • loss of interest in sex
  • purple or red pinpoint sports under your skin,
