Nebupent (pentamidine isethionate)

NebuPent (pentamidine isethionate) is an antibiotic used to prevent and treat serious infections such as Pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP), often seen in people with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing,
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
  • nausea,
  • vomiting,
  • fever,
  • night sweats,
  • easy bruising,
  • unusual bleeding,
  • pale skin,
  • lightheadedness,
  • confusion,
  • dizziness,
  • headache,
  • wheezing,
  • sweating,
  • weakness,
  • cough,
  • sore throat,
  • painful or difficult urination,
  • irritability,
  • skin pain, and
  • hunger,
  • purple or red pinpoint spots under your skin,
  • burning in your eyes,
  • severe pain in your upper stomach spreading to your back,
  • feeling jittery,
  • hallucination,
  • choking,
  • fast or uneven heart rate,
  • pain, burning, irritation, or skin changes where the injection was given,
  • worsening symptoms,
  • other breathing problems after using the medication,
