Naphcon A (naphazoline hydrochloride and pheniramine maleate) is a combination of a decongestant/redness reliever and an antihistamine used for the temporary relief of redness and itching of the eye(s) due to ragweed pollen, grass, and animal dander and hair. Naphcon A is available over-the-counter (OTC).

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing,
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
  • eye pain, and
  • ongoing or worsening eye redness,
  • changes in your vision
The following drugs are related to Naphcon A, either as a replacement or used together:
  • Claritin (loratadine)
  • Claritin D (loratadine and pseudoephedrine)
  • Zaditen (ketotifen hydrogen fumarate eye drops)
  • Ryaltris (olopatadine hydrochloride and mometasone furoate monohydrate nasal spray)
