Minastrin 24 Fe (norethindrone acetate and ethinyl estradiol/ferrous fumarate) is a combination of female hormones and the mineral iron used as an oral contraceptive to prevent pregnancy. Minastrin 24 Fe is available in generic form.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing,
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
  • dark urine,
  • confusion,
  • rapid breathing,
  • vision problems,
  • fainting,
  • mood changes,
  • severe stomach pain,
  • unusual sweating,
  • weakness on one side of the body,
  • sudden dizziness,
  • yellowing of the eyes or skin (jaundice),
  • trouble speaking,
  • new or worsening depression,
  • severe dizziness,
  • lack of coordination,
  • chest, jaw, and left arm pain,
  • sudden shortness of breath,
  • pain, swelling, warmth in the groin or calf,
  • unusual headaches,
  • worsening of migraines,
  • continuous spotting,
  • sudden heavy bleeding,
  • missed periods,
  • sudden or very severe headaches,
  • lump in the breast,
  • headaches with vision changes,
  • double vision, and
  • partial or complete blindness
The following drugs are related to Minastrin 24 Fe, either as a replacement or used together:
  • Depo-Provera (medroxyprogesterone)
  • Yasmin (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol)
  • Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol)
  • Plan B (levonorgestrel emergency contraception, morning after pill)
  • Norplant (levonorgestrel implants (unavailable in us))
  • Plan B One-Step (levonorgestrel tablet)
  • Mirena (levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system)
  • Ortho Evra (norelgestromin, ethinyl estradiol transdermal)
