Zavesca (miglustat)

Zavesca (miglustat) is a metabolic agent used in the treatment of mild to moderate type 1 Gaucher disease by people who cannot receive enzyme replacement therapy.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• hives,
• difficulty breathing,
• swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
• weight loss,
• easy bruising, and
• severe diarrhea,
• tremor or uncontrolled shaking (especially in your hands),
• numbness or tinging in your hands or feet,
• burning pain in your hands or feet,
• unusual bleeding (nosebleeds, bleeding gums)

The following drugs are related to Zavesca, either as a replacement or used together:

• Cerdelga (eiglustat capsules)
• Cerezyme (imiglucerase)
• Elelyso (taliglucerase alfa)
• VPRIV (velaglucerase alfa for injection)
