Metrodin (urofollitropin for injection)

Metrodin (urofollitropin for injection) is a gonadotropin used to stimulate follicular development and the induction of ovulation in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome, and infertility, who have failed to respond or conceive following adequate clomiphene citrate therapy. Metrodin and hCG may also be used to stimulate the development of multiple follicles in ovulatory patients undergoing Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) such as in vitro fertilization. The brand name Metrodin is discontinued, but generic versions may be available.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• headache
• nausea
• diarrhea
• fever
• vomiting
• chills
• headache, and
• bloating
• breast tenderness
• abdominal pain or cramps
• hot flashes
• fatigue.
• injection site reactions (pain, rash, swelling, redness, or irritation)
• muscle or joint aches
