Ritalin LA (methylphenidate hydrochloride) is a central nervous system stimulant used to treat attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and narcolepsy. Ritalin LA is available in generic form.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• lightheadedness,
• chest pain,
• ,
• hostility,
• aggression,
• trouble breathing,
• hallucinations,
• new behavioral problems,
• paranoia,
• pain,
• unexplained wounds,
• cold feeling,
• penis erection that is painful or lasts 4 hours or longer
• numbness
• skin color changes (pale, red, or blue appearance) in your fingers or toes, and
• slowed growth (in children),
