Metastron (strontium-89 chloride) Injection is a radiopharmaceutical drug used for the relief of bone pain in patients with painful skeletal metastases (cancer). Metastron is available in generic form.
This drug may have the following side effects:

chills - fever
- flushing
- a mild increase in bone pain 36 to 72 hours after injection
