Purixan (mercaptopurine oral suspension)

Purixan (mercaptopurine) Oral Suspension is a nucleoside metabolic inhibitor used to treat patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia as part of a combination regimen.
This drug may have the following side effects:
- nausea
- diarrhea
- vomiting
- anemia
- skin rash
- hives
- skin discoloration
- feeling unwell (malaise)
- loss of appetite (anorexia)
- low neutrophils (white blood cells)
- low levels of platelets in the blood (thrombocytopenia)
- elevated liver enzymes (transaminases)
- elevated bilirubin
- intestinal ulcers
- excess uric acid in the blood
- oral lesions that resemble thrush
- drug fever (rare).
