Menactra (polysaccharide diphtheria toxoid conjugate vaccine) is an immunization used to prevent infection caused by meningococcal bacteria. Menactra vaccine contains four of the most common types of meningococcal bacteria that cause the body to produce its own protection (antibodies) against the bacteria.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• nausea,
• vomiting,
• diarrhea,
• tiredness,
• headache,
• drowsiness,
• low fever,
• joint or muscle pain,
• changes in appetite,
• redness, pain, swelling, or a hard lump where the shot was given,
• not feeling well, and
• irritability or fussiness (in babies)
