Osmitrol (mannitol injection) is a diuretic used to force urine production in people with acute (sudden) kidney failure. Osmitrol is also used to reduce swelling and pressure inside the eye or around the brain.
This drug may have the following side effects:
- hives,
- difficulty breathing,
- swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
- vomiting,
- lightheadedness,
- confusion,
- fast heartbeats,
- chest pain,
- seizure,
- constipation,
- headache,
- wheezing,
- little or no urination,
- rapid weight gain,
- increased thirst or urination,
- leg cramps,
- gasping for breath,
- cough with foamy mucus,
- tingly feeling
- feeling very thirsty or hot,
- being unable to urinate,
- lack of energy,
- hot and dry skin,
- heavy sweating,
- muscle pain or weakness,
- bone pain,
- irregular heartbeats, and
- painful or difficulty urinating,
- swelling in your hands or lower legs,
- shortness of breath (even while lying down),
- pain, bruising, irritation, or skin changes where the injection was given,
