Skyla (levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system)

Skyla (levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system) is an intrauterine device (IUD) that contains the female hormone progestin, and is a contraceptive used to prevent pregnancy for up to 3 years.
This drug may have the following side effects:
- fever,
- confusion,
- dizziness,
- back pain,
- low blood pressure,
- swelling,
- abnormal vaginal bleeding,
- cramping,
- pelvic pain,
- rash,
- vaginal bleeding,
- perforation,
- pregnancy,
- abdominal, pelvic or pain on the side of the body,
- severe pain,
- unusual discharge with bad odor from your vagina,
- pain and/or bleeding when you have sex,
- burning sensation when you urinate,
- bleeding between periods,
- expulsion,
- excessive hairiness,
- irregular menstrual periods, and
- changes in menstrual periods
