Somatuline Depot (lanreotide)

Somatuline Depot (lanreotide) is an injection of a synthetic octapeptide used for the long-term treatment of acromegaly in patients who do not respond to, or cannot opt for, surgery or radiotherapy. The goal of treatment with acromegaly is to reduce growth hormone levels to normal.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• hives,
• difficulty breathing,
• swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
• nausea,
• yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice)
• fever,
• lightheadedness,
• shortness of breath,
• confusion,
• tiredness,
• chest pain,
• dizziness,
• weight gain,
• dry mouth,
• headache,
• sweating,
• weakness,
• increased thirst,
• increased urination,
• fruity breath odor,
• irritability,
• fast heart rate,
• hunger,
• memory problems,
• dry skin,
• puffiness in your face,
• slow heartbeats,
• chills, and
• shakiness,
• increased sensitivity to cold temperatures,
• Depressed mood,
• anxiousness,
• thinning hair,
• decreased sweating,
• sudden severe pain in your upper stomach spreading to your back or shoulder,
