Kynamro (mipomersen sodium injection)

Kynamro (mipomersen sodium) Injection is an oligonucleotide inhibitor of apo B-100 synthesis used as an adjunct to lipid-lowering medications and diet to reduce low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C), apolipoprotein B (apo B), total cholesterol (TC), and non-high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (non-HDL-C) in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH).

This drug may have the following side effects:

• nausea,
• headache,
• flu-like symptoms,
• tired feeling, and
• site reactions (pain, swelling, redness, itching, bruising, or tenderness),
• elevated blood liver enzymes, most commonly alanine transaminase (ALT).
