Korlym (mifepristone)

type of Antiprogestins, Cortisol Receptor Blockers

Korlym (mifepristone) is a cortisol receptor blocker indicated to control high blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia) in adults with endogenous Cushing's syndrome who have type 2 diabetes mellitus or glucose intolerance and have failed surgery or are not candidates for surgery.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• nausea
• dizziness
• vomiting
• diarrhea
•  joint pain
•  runny or stuffy nose
•  stomach pain
•  headache
• sore throat
• fatigue
•  dry mouth
• constipation
• drowsiness
• swelling of the extremities
• decreased appetite/loss
  of appetite
• sinus congestion/infection
• muscle pain or weakness
• back pain
• sleep problems (insomnia)
• pain in extremities
• decreased blood potassium
• abnormal thyroid function tests
• high blood pressure (hypertension), or
• anxiety.
