Kionex (sodium polystyrene sulfonate) is a cation-exchange resin that works by helping your body get rid of extra potassium and is used to treat high levels of potassium in the blood, also called hyperkalemia. Kionex is available in generic form.
This drug may have the following side effects:
- nausea,
- vomiting,
- loss of appetite,
- upset stomach,
- constipation, or
- diarrhea.
