Imitrex (sumatriptan succinate)

Imitrex (sumatriptan) is a selective serotonin receptor agonist used in oral, intranasal or injectable dosage form to treat migraine headaches. Imitrex is available as a generic drug.

The drug is often used to treat Migraine .

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • nausea,
  • vomiting,
  • fever,
  • shortness of breath,
  • agitation,
  • irregular heartbeats,
  • slurred speech,
  • hallucinations,
  • seizure (convulsions),
  • loss of coordination,
  • muscle stiffness,
  • leg cramps,
  • sweating or shivering,
  • sudden numbness or weakness on one side of the body,
  • severe chest pain,
  • cold feeling in your legs or feet,
  • hip pain,
  • sudden, severe stomach pain,
  • diarrhea with or without the presence of blood,
  • pain in your jaw or shoulder,
  • numbness or tingling in your legs or feet,
  • burning pain in your legs or feet,
  • color changes in your legs or feet,
  • difficulty seeing,
  • poor balance, and
  • sudden severe headache
