Motrin (ibuprofen)

Motrin (ibuprofen) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) indicated for relief of the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, for relief of mild to moderate pain, and for treatment of primary dysmenorrhea. A generic formulation is available.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • nausea,
  • upper stomach pain,
  • loss of appetite,
  • itching,
  • dark urine,
  • rapid heart rate,
  • flu-like symptoms,
  • feeling tired,
  • rapid weight gain,
  • vision changes,
  • bloody or tarry stools,
  • yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice),
  • fever, and
  • little or no urinating,
  • trouble concentrating,
  • coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds,
  • shortness of breath or feeling light-headed,
  • swelling in your hands or feet, face or tongue,
  • skin rash that is red or purple with blisters,
  • clay colored stools,
  • burning in your eyes
