Hicon (sodium iodide i 131)

Hicon (Kit for the Preparation of Sodium Iodide I 131 Capsules and Solution Therapeutic – Oral) is radioactive Sodium Iodide indicated for the treatment of hyperthyroidism and selected cases of thyroid cancer. Generic radioactive Sodium Iodide may be available to some medical specialists.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• hives,
• difficulty breathing,
• swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
• nausea,
• itching,
• vomiting,
• chest pain,
• increased heart rate,
• rash, and
• death

The following drugs are related to Hicon, either as a replacement or used together:

• Octreoscan (indium in -111 pentetreotide kit for intravenous use)
• Jeanatope 1-125 (iodinated 1-125 albumin injection)
