Hexabrix (ioxaglate meglumine 39.3% and ioxaglate sodium 19.6% injection) is a diagnostic radiopaque medium indicated for use in pediatric angiocardiography, selective coronary arteriography with or without left ventriculography, peripheral arteriography, aortography, selective visceral arteriography, cerebral angiography, intra-arterial digital subtraction angiography, intravenous digital subtraction angiography, peripheral venography (phlebography), excretory urography, contrast enhancement of computed tomographic head imaging and body imaging, arthrography and hysterosalpingography.
This drug may have the following side effects:
- hives,
- difficulty breathing,
- swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
- skin redness,
- loss of appetite,
- itching,
- dark urine,
- rash,
- vomiting,
- shortness of breath,
- tiredness,
- clay-colored stools,
- dizziness,
- weight gain,
- wheezing,
- fainting,
- cough,
- chest pain or pressure,
- little or no urination,
- fast or irregular heartbeat,
- abdominal pain,
- weakness on one side of the body,
- tightness in the chest or throat,
- unusual hoarseness,
- change in the amount of urine,
- sneezing,
- trouble swallowing or talking,
- stuffy nose,
- red or pink urine,
- seizures, and
- blue or gray skin color,
- blistered or peeling skin with or without a fever,
- yellowing skin or eyes (jaundice),
- choking feeling,
- trouble speaking or thinking,
- numbness of the face, arm or leg,
- blurred eyesight,
- pain, burning, swelling, blisters, skin sores or leaving of fluid from the injection site
