Ismelin (guanethidine monosulfate)

Ismelin (guanethidine monosulfate) is an antihypertensive used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). Ismelin is also used to treat high blood pressure in the kidneys. The brand name Ismelin is discontinued, but generic versions may be available.

This drug may have the following side effects:
  • nausea
  • diarrhea
  • vomiting
  • dizziness
  • blurred vision
  • depression
  • anxiety
  • stuffy nose
  • impotence
  • dry mouth
  • weight gain
  • nightmares
  • unusual fatigue or drowsiness
  • difficulty ejaculating
  • slow heartbeat, and
  • dizziness on standing
