Glyset (miglitol)

type of Antidiabetics, Alpha-Glucosidase Inhibitors

Glyset (miglitol) is an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor that works by slowing the absorption of carbohydrates, so that blood sugar does not rise as much after a meal, used to treat non-insulin-dependent (Type II) diabetes mellitus.

This drug may have the following side effects:

• hives,
• difficulty breathing,
• swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
• constipation,
• bloody or tarry stools,
• severe diarrhea,
• rectal bleeding, and
• diarrhea that contains blood or mucus
